Captured with my iPhone when I was at the Home Depot yesterday, I wanted to get exactly this moment of lightning striking. We have been having thunderstorms every single afternoon---and sometimes evenings as well---for the past week plus. They're going to end soon, but this muggy heat and storminess has been wonderfully dramatic, an excuse to wear cosy grey marle in the p.m., and the cause of a mushroom the size of my head that's growing in our garden.

I can think of so many people who would get a kick out of this, starting with my husband and ending with my father. For some reason it reminds me of driving up the Northland hill to my job at Eagle Boys' Pizza when I was about fifteen.
