noo zild treks

I recently got in touch with an old friend from New Zealand; he was travelling around, writing and playing his music back then, too, and I am just so heart-burstingly happy for him for pursuing his dreams: his music, which is always raw and true. And not infrequently falsetto.

Now he has released three albums, which I'm adding to my collection of his music: up until now it's consisted of a single cassette that I've carried with me around the world for the past ten years, and since my husband forbids me to bring a tape player into the house, I haven't even been able to listen to it for the past five.

And this song has been around since before I left Wellington, although back then I remember Tommy saying that when he recorded his album it would be called "Pillows", which he'd yell out at the close of the music, mainly in order to mess with people. The video clip is hilarious, especially if you manage not to pay attention to the lack of seat-belt safety:
